Recently, there's been a lot of buzz regarding World Health Organization (WHO)'s recent announcement classifiying red meat as a Group 2A carcinogenic and processed meat into Group 1. What that essentially means is that processed meat probably causes cancer and processed meat definitely causes cancer.
That statement although factually correct has a lot more to it. Cigarettes are Group 1 carcinogenic. Cigarettes are not equal to bacon. Cigars have a higher likelihood to give you cancer than bacon. There are obvious questions like "How much did the people in the study eat?", "What made them carcinogenic?" and so on. It's good to ask these questions and not simply succumb to the sensationalist headlines all around.
